Opera Garnier Paris seats: advice
Hello,
I would like to attend a ballet at Opera Garnier in June. However, the only contiguous seats I find are either Amphiteatre (20 euros each) or Orchestra (85 euros each). Is the amphiteatre very bad? Shall I forget it, pay much more (170 euros for 2 instead or 40) and stay at the Orchestra?
Thanks,
gpm

Here are a few threads that discussed seating at Garnier:

I think it's just subjective. I personally don't go to the theater or ballet that often that I scrimp on seats. I wouldn't consider 20 euro amphitheatre seats remotely like the 85 euro orchestra ones and would never do that to save money. But I love ballet and they are one of my favorite companies, and it sounds like you don't care that much.

oh, do you know where the amphitheatre is? You can imagine the cheapest seats aren't going to be very good, but that section is about fourth balcony or so, as I recall, maybe fifth. To me, I'd rather not even go, and I couldn't even sit up there because it would be too scary to me or induce vertigo, but if you don't care about the performance and just want to be in the building and see it, I think it's a good idea.

I have done it both ways, and I won't sit up in the amphitheatre again. I did that with my daughter a few years ago. Tickets were very affordable. We were in the second to last row. Sight lines were fine, but the seats were extremely uncomfortable, more like a perch than a real seat. Orchestra seats are very comfortable.
If I were young, I would buy the cheapest seat, as I did when I was a college student, and I don't remember noticing that the seat was uncomfortable at that time.
