Opera Festival in Verona

I am looking for a nice hotel to stay at near the Arena. We were there last summer and enjoyed it so much that am going again this summer. Unfortunately, we did not care for our hotel. Any suggestions?

We are also looking for a hotel near the arena,so I'll be watching this posting to see what you find out! How are the unreserved seats at the opera? It will be our first time there. Thanks
Check out Karen Brown's Italy guides, Charming Inns and also Charming Bed & Breakfasts at www.karenbrown.com. We have never been disappointed with her suggestions!
She lists two hotels in Verona (scarce)
Hotel Gabbia D'Oro and Hotel Victoria.
We are staying in her B&B suggestion, Residence San Zeno, withing walking distance to the Arena and enclosed courtyard parking for your car.
Hope this helps.

The B&B listing for Verona is new and not on the web site. If you would like contact information for it, or the hotels, I will be happy to email the details.

This is a reply to the postings concerning the opera festival in Verona. Try www.arena.it for more info. It is an opera festival(Verdi) held in an outdoor arena that was built in the 1st century AD. There's a different opera each night beginning at the end of June until August. We saw Aida last year; that's the one that everyone wants to go to. Ordered tickets (for the cheap seats, 40000 lira). The seats are okay but line up early. The confusion going on up on the stone steps adds to the fun.

Does anyone know the best way to order tickets for the arena? We would like to see Aida or go to the Gala Concert with Placido Domingo. I've found places on line to order for the operas, but not for Domingo. Thanks!
