Online Museum Tickets
Has anyone used tickitaly.com to purchase their tickets to the Uffizi, Academia in Florence or the Borghese Gallery or Vatican Museums in Rome etc? They don't charge a fee to book these...
Thanks,
Som

I prefer to book directly with the venues, on the theory that it's less likely that I'll have problems.
Also, from a brief look at tickitaly.com, it looks like they do charge a 2 Euro booking fee per ticket (on top of the booking fees charged by the venue).

For Florence- By phone call 011-39-055-294-883
(Uffizi can book up months in advance, Accademia at least a couple days in advance)
You will receive a confirmation # to bring with you and pay when you arrive at museum. I do not believe you pay a booking fee as you don't pay in advance but I am not 100% sure on that.

Just a few weeks ago, we asked our hotel to make these reservations for Uffizi, Accadmia, and Borghese. They did, gave us slips of paper with reservation numbers on them, we walked up to the ticket desks and paid the standard admission fee, but skipping the long line.

Be sure to ask your hotel if they charge a fee for booking tickets. One Fodorite asked her hotel (also in Florence) to book tickets and was charged double. Don't assume your hotel will do it for free.

Uffizi and Accademia: if you go to Friends of the uffizi site you can buy a pass which we did last month. Unlimited visits and did I take advantage of it. Buy the ticket at the Pitti Palace, entrance #2, and the first door on the left.
Vatican Museum: buy ticket online, set a time for your visit, receive a print out and walze right in. (Note: do not follow the tour. Time your visit for the opening time, and do not stop but IMMEDIATELY go to the Sistene Chapel. You will then be alone to marvel at the splendour of the ages. Then start the tour and when you end up at the Chapel again there will be what seems like thousands of tourists and you'll be glad you were there earlier, alone)

Hi Som,
Avoid the middle man:
Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations
You can purchase tickets online at http://www.polomuseale.firenze.it/english/musei/uffizi/
Or call the museum booking line on +39 055 294883, open during Italian hours from 8.15 am to 5.50 pm Tuesday to Sunday for the English-speaking operator.
Have a nice visit.
