One Day in Naples
Our August cruise has a port of call in Naples. Although we've traveled throughout Italy before, the only time we spent in Naples was in the train station - full of hustlers and not very pleasant. What would anyone recommend for one day that will give us a GOOD impression of Naples?

You could train to see Pompei and/or Herculaneum.
Alternatively, you could see the Archaeology Museum in Naples and several of the beautiful churches.
Capella Sanservo church (10am-6pm, last entry 5:40pm, 5€ each) is famous for its statue of the veiled Christ.
Gesu Nuovo church and Santa Chirara church (9:30am-1pm, 3:30pm-6:30pm, free) are also supposed to be noteworthy.
ira and mermaid, frequent posters, are both very knowledgable about Naples and can probably suggest more options.

In addition to the above suggestions you might consider visiting the Capodimonte National Museum of Art, touring the Palace, walking through Spaccanapoli or visiting Santa Lucia. Naples has a bad reputation, but I've visited several times without a problem. I find it a colorful, exciting city.
