Olympics Help

We very rashly bid on the internet for some tickets for the Olympics in Athens in August, not expecting to get all of them. We did though and its costing a fortune. Am now worried that accommodation will be an absolute nightmare and was wondering if anyone else had any helpful suggestions. We plan on driving there and back (have driven to Prague and back before) and so will have a car with us.
Thanks very much

In reply, accommodations on the mainland within 70 km of Athens at a rate less than 200 euros (2-person) are difficult to find at this stage. I've been advised by various web-based travel agencies to check back w/ themin October as some rooms (previously reserved for Olympic use by officials,, athletes, etc.) may be made available.

Thanks for your reply
I've now emailed lots of agencies, the official homes for rent progam and all the ships and am resigned to paying lots. Good luck with your search.

Do not panic!

The best way to get a reservation is trough the official agents of the Athens 2004 organizing com(check their website).

According to your budget ,these agents are going to confirm to any TICKET HOLDER a hotel room,or, a fully furnished AND daily serviced appartment/villa,or a cabin on a luxury cruiseship(for me the best solution as you will benefit of her luxurious resort amenities just in the heart of the events)

Right now, what's popping-up are travel agencies offering 2-3 bedroom accomodations in homes, apartments, etc. for $400 - 500 nite (assuming 4 people) in the Athens area.
