olympia hotel?
Hi- we will be in Greece Aug. 10-16 after coming in from Egypt. We get in at 545am on the 10th, my plan is to take the train- slow but hubby love them- to Olympia, stay overnight see sights, take bus to Patras (2hr) and pick up rental car and make our way to Delphi ending up in Athens on the 14th or 15th to leave. Have really no idea where to stay in Olympia, the only hotel I can find is Hotel Europa for $130 per night, havent even began to look in Delphi or Athens. Also- does anyone have any idea about what gas will cost? Our rental will be about $200 for 3 days I think, we are just going to drive around and see stuff I guess. Thanks, Cari

We stayed at the Pelops Hotel in Olympia and the Apollo Hotel in Delphi in May. The rooms in each were basic but very clean. In each hotel our room had a balcony to sit on and cost 60E including breakfast. Both are listed in Fodor's. We didn't think it was worth twice the cost for the Europa or Amalia for one night in each place. In Athens we stayed at the St. George Lycabettus. It is a small luxury hotel (140E for a double with no view and without breakfast). Gas ran about 0.87 a liter. We found the car rental cost in Greece to be much less at Thrifty than other agencies. Have a great trip.
