jan - the perfect place for you to spend a few hours and a place I suspect that you've never been - The London Dungeon! One of the top paying admission sites in London right after The Tower of London and Madam Tussauds! In its relatively new located, right near the London Eye!

"The London Dungeon!"
GtH (meant in the nicest possible way)
annhig: I'm really looking forward to that dinner. Booked quite a late seating - 10PM. For the supposed quality it is actually pretty moderately priced.
It's the Port Isaac one with the 2 Michelin starts - right? I have friends who have been to the one in Rock.

Yo Janis...if any Fodorite traveler can work out their own pleasant, meaningful, satisfying solo program while in London, it's you. I'm a little surprised. Nevertheless, I wish you a grand time in a city you know so very well....and the merriest happy holidays...and a happy 2016.

Looks like you've solved your problem, but just in case...
From my list:
Leighton Museum
Sambourne Museum
Old Books market on Southbank near Waterloo?
Maritime Museum
ArtsCrafts church at Sloane Square
tea at Royal Institute of Architects

I had to check it, JJ, but yes, you're right - the 2 star one is in Port Isaac. not been to either but the menus look good!

Thanks Mimar -- actually going to pop into Holy Trinity (the Arts and Crafts church) earlier when I make my regular trip to William Curley chocolatier in Ebury Street.
Having lunch another day at the Marriott County Hall so the Southbank book market will be nearby if I get a chance.
Visited Leighton House once when I stayed nearby at the Olympia Hilton, but the Sambourne was closed so haven't been inside (but apparently it isn't open to the public on Thursdays)

If going to Southbank Market you could pop into the Clink - an old gaol (jail) that I guess gave its name to "in the clink" - I'm sure you've been in the clink but this one may be more interesting - oh well just a thought as few folks even know this exists and you'll be in the area.
Cheers!
Have a great time in London, as always!

Since when? It is a well know attraction. Just around the corner from Vinopolis. Been there - once is way more than enough >

Nope . . . But if I were to go to Vinopolis (again) on Dec 31st it would be my very last chance since it goes out of business that night. Apparently I'm not alone being underwhelmed.

Last call - drinks up please - at Vinopolis!
Is there anyplace in London you have not been?
How about Green St - turn left from the Tube station and it's like taking a trip down a street in Pakistan or India - turn right and you have an old shabby street market and a typical fading British High Street and the home stadium of East Ham FC - go before a match to take in the atmosphere:

Aarrrgh! I have never ever had a problem packing for a trip to the UK -- but this time I am stumped. It is late DECEMBER fer cryin' out loud. 55ºF - 60ºF!!!. And nearly 50º at night.
My puffer coat (my go-to cold weather coat) would be much too warm. My best rain coats are too light (California coats ). I have a couple of raincoats w/ zip out liners - but w/ the liners too heavy and w/o probably too light. Have wool coats but not good in the rain. Have short jackets which are good for those sorts of temps - but I'm doing some posh things and need something nicer . . . jeeze louise. I'll figure it out . . . will probably still be deciding as Supershuttle comes up the drive . . .
kmowatt: Have your plans settled? I still have time on Monday if you want to try and meet up.
