Don't believe everything Kerouac says.

Meanwhile, I am curious as to where I will have lunch tomorrow. I am obliged to interrupt my vacation because the General Manager Europe wants to have lunch with me. Since I have been blocking his redundancy plan for more than a year as elected employee delegate and also union representative (I joined the union just for the extra power it gave me.), he has spent 260,000€ on lawyers this year alone and he needs to wrap this up by December 31st. To block him, I have only spent 3600€ on lawyers. What an idiot.

Oh, I guess this is off topic....

Kerouac,

You will have to report back about the restaurant that your General Manager took you to! And your review of it, of course!

a bientot...

He hangs out at Fouquet's every day. I don't want to go there!

You must be on countdown now, Joan. All your dining plans sound lovely. Give my "hellos" to Florent and Mikael.

Have a wonderful trip!

Joan: have you ever dined @ Benoit, Alain Ducasse's resto?
I have had very good meals at their NYC establishment but
reports on Benoit Paris are really negative. Seems odd!

Rhea58,

No, I have not been to Benoit. Have never had it on my list, either. Don't know all the reasons of why, but I have never been a Ducasse fan! Maybe should let it go at that. I have enjoyed many 3 star and lesser stars and no stars!!

a bientot..

Joan, We will be staying in the Kir apartment in May and wondering if you could tell me how far of a walk is it to Rue Cler or Rue Dominique? We would like to dine at Le Florimond....is it walkable from Kir?
Thank you

What a relief! -- we went to a local nearby café which is known for its excellent lunch specials. (O Sancerre on rue Marbeuf) This was because my own boss was invited, too, and he recommended it.

I noticed that he only spent 108€ for the three of us. He gave a 5€ tip, which is excessive, but it at least indicates that he has begun to understand that tips should not be huge in France.

Meanwhile, I got him to bump his severance bonus to 12 months salary instead of just 8 months. This is in addition to the contractual indemnities, which would represent another 26 months of salary in my case. I am devastated not to be on the redundancy list at the moment, but I am very pleased with the results I have obtained for my colleagues.

Great work Kerouac and am so interested in the cafe...even the tourist that I am wouldn't want to go to Fouquet's, so a sigh of relief for you.

cornelius01...we plan to walk to Le Florimond from the Kir apartment in November. Rue St Dominique is right there (and the Constant "lineup")...if you type in the address in Google maps you can plot it all out and get a street view to see the actual address. Joan, is the expert on the neighborhood but I don't think you will have any problem.

Cornelius01,

You are very close to all! Why don't you go to google maps and put in General Camou and it will give you the map..A is the American Libraary at #10 click for street view..go left on map..looks like they are doing some work on outside of building..you will see blue door behind it and is door entry for your apartment..go to corner of Bourdonnais, turn left and go one rather long block to corner of St Dominique, turn left and continue down it to rue Cler...you will see many tings along the way..when you get to rue Cler turn right and you will go a block to the pedestrian area...if you continue to the end of r. Cler you will come to Lamotte Picquet and if you turn left, you will see Le Florimond on the right...These maps are really great...

a bientot...Joan

Well, my colleagues are not happy -- they want 15-18 months as a severance bonus. (The 15 months is because that's what our colleagues in Italy got, but dammit, every country is different.) Apparently, I am going to be burned at the stake when I return to work on Friday.

Up until this morning I had one of those upgraded seats that you pay an extra $80 for. I had been where 2 seats on side and the one next to me was empty! This morning the whole row had disappeared!! I called and they changed planes..now moved me to center sectio of 3 seats and onaisle with empty middle seat..I don't expect that to last!!

The joys of flying....

Byrd we will miss you and John..think you better make a quick trip to Paris for T/G...We will post pics!

a bientot....Will begin Part II upon arrival..

Ugh. We have those same "super economy" seats in a couple of weeks. Hate hearing they can dump you at the last minute like that! I hope the slightly-more-comfy seat makes it worthwhile.

I love when I get to print boarding passes..that's when it seems real!
