Oberammergau Hotel

I've read the book "Oberammergau, a Decade of Experiences in a Bavarian Village". The author describes one of the best hotels. Alois Lang Hotel. I've been trying for 3 days to get through by phone to make a reservation. I know of no other way. The number is 49 8822 760. The international operator says I've got the wrong number but I cant find another one.

Have any of you stayed at this hotel, and how did you make your reservations?

Thanks!!!

That is one of the best reads on the internet. My dream is to someday spend an extended period of time in that same area of Bavaria.

As for your problem, a Google search certainly didn't help. And this hotel isn't listed with any of the hotel booking services I tried. Maybe this is a case where snail mail might be your only option. That's what I need to do to book my favorite place in nearby Hohenfurch.

Dialing Germany from Abroad:
To dial the telephone and fax numbers shown from outside Germany, dial your international access code (check with your telecoms provider if you do not know what to dial), then 49, then the rest of the number except the 0 shown in brackets.

Those are the numbers I've been dialing. The operator said that 8822 is the town code and the 760 is the address number. He said that the phone number is too short. Hopefully someone who has been there can help.

Thanks!!

I see what you're saying, the phone number is short one number. What if you tried adding a 0 to the end making it 8822/7600.

Worth a try?

I have done several different seaches and cannot find a listing for this hotel. How about the Oberammergau Tourist information office.

I looked at the Oberammergau home page:

http://www.oberammergau.de/ot/gastge...erzeichnis.htm

The Alois Lang hotel is not listed. Maybe it is no longer in business.

The suggestion to contact the town's tourist office was a great one. They told me the hotel was closed. Why didn't I think of that earlier! Thanks again for you help.

IMO if you want another "quintessential" Oberammergau hotel look into the "chalet-style" Wolf which is in the very center of the village, has an attached restaurant, the usual flower-filled window boxes, and is within walking distance of everything.

Another possibility and only slightly removed from the same area would be the Parchotel Sonnenhof.
