Oberammergau
Does anyone have any recommendations for a guesthouse in Oberammergau?
Also, is there anything to do in Oberammergau at night (ie, getting a few beers at the local biergarten)? Not sure if it totally shuts down in the PM.
Thanks !!!

Ober is very nice, especially if you like wood carvings.
The RC church is definitely worth a visit to see the inside.
The village isn't all that far from other places such as Fuessen for Neuschwanstein, etc., and there is public bus service
I have only stayed in hotels there so cannot give you any recommendations for guset house unfortunately.

We stayed at the Pension Enzianhof there. It was a short walk into the town center. It had the best breakfast of any on our trip. I highly recommend it. We loved Oberammergau by the way. The spots for dinner closed up early but there were plenty of friendly places open for a beer later in the evening.

We stayed here for one week last spring. We had the upstairs suite and as I recall it was about 55 Euros. The hosts speak excellent English and were a wealth of information on the area. It is in town and within walking distance of everything.
Just down the street is a restruant where the owner does magic tricks tableside. He speaks excellent English and in fact used to work at Sea World in San Diego. Great food and beer with very reasonable prices. The B&B owners can direct you.
