I found nothing objectionable about your post whatsoever. Sorry I gave that impression. I just keyed off that statement to expand on my personal reasons to visit Nürnberg.

As far as teens are concerned, when I was a teenager and on vacation with my parents, I liked any place where I and anyone else my age travelling with us (friends, cousins, etc) could go off without my parents. It didn't really matter what we did - walk around, get some pizza, check out some shops, hang out, just being on our own was great. It seems to me that just about any German town with an Altstadt of a decent size would work for that

On the subject (again) of what teens enjoy I definitely agree that being able to explore on their own w/o adults is "fun."
Traditional tourist sites like art museums and churches are often less interesting to them
