Nov. too late for Eastern Europe?

We would like to travel in Eastern Europe in November. Is that too late in the year for comfortable sightseeing? Thanks.

not at all...it will be cool and you may see some snow in certain places (limited), but the crowds will be gone and prices will be at their cheapest...i'm going to be in prague around thanksgiving and didn't think twice about the time of year....in fact i think it one of the best times of the year....

It probably depends where in E Europe you're planning to visit. I regularly travel to Slovakia and this area of the region does have harsh winters (in comparison to the UK where I live).

The winter temperatures often do not rise above freezing. I'd travel earlier if you have an option, particularly if you plan to do sight seeing, or take very warm clothes.

Question? Do you mean Ukraine etc.? Or Central Europe? Poland and Slovakia are wonderful places in late Autumn. The ski resorts may not be open. You will be most welcome as there are few tourists. Come and enjoy. Start in Gdansk and travel south, finish in Bratislava or Vienna.

I would definitely go in November. If I weren't a teacher (I basically have no choice but to travel to Europe when it's at it's hottest), I would take my vacation in the fall. Far fewer tourists, GREAT deals on airfare & hotels, much less frazzled hotel & restaurant staff, and the symphonies, operas, ballet seasons are all in full swing. You will get a taste of what the cities are really like, you can cut your travel expenditure by at least
50% (even if you stay in 4* or 5* hotels), and see first rate concerts, instead of touristy nonsense. If you're lucky, it will snow in Prague, and it will be magical! Have fun.

I was in Berlin, Prague and Budapest in November; Vienna and Krakow in December. Both times it was pleasantly cold but no snow. There wasn't even any snow at Zakapane, which was a letdown. My preference is traveling in October-December for reasons stated by others. Also, the Christmas markets are great.

Thanks, everyone, for your messages.
We've decided to take our heavy coats and go for it. Won't get back until middle of December!
