Norway, Finland, Sweden

Hi, my sisters and I are thinking about visiting Norway, Finland, and Sweden in May. We are thinking about leaving out one of these destinations and going to Denmark in its place. We are in our 20s and are well traveled but have never been to any of these countries. I was wondering if I could get any advice about which to go to, and which, if any, could be missed for Denmark??

I haven't been to Norway or Finland, but have been to Sweden and don't leave it out, at least go to Stockholm if you can't get anyplace else.

Sorry, posted too soon. I have been to Copenhagen and I had a great time and loved it, but I would give that up before I would give up Stockholm.

For one location in Finland, you may wish to check my Helsinki (and Tallinn) phototravelogue at http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=...&y=-95hdl3

Hmmmm a difficult that one, every country has it's own charm. In Sweden go for Stockholm, in Finland Helsinki, in Norway Bergen with Western Fjords and/or North Country, possibly Oslo, in Denmark Copenhagen or drive around on Jutland, among these I think I would skip Copenhagen with Denmark. But then Im Norwegian- Why not Iceland too, very different from the others.

How many days would be traveling? If enough days (more than 10 days?) you don't have to leave Finland out. That said, if I was forced into dropping a place among Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, it would be a tough choice between Denmark and Finland, but the final desicion would be Finland.

Another spin to this is fly to the earternmost destination and work your way back; that is, fly out to Helsinki, spend a day, ferry over to Stockholm, train to Oslo, ferry over to Copenhagen, return from Copengagen. If you fly transatlantic SAS, they will allow you a one-way flight anywhere voucher whithin Scandinavia for extra $70. We used ours to fly Helsinki-Stockholm. Just some thoughts. Have fun, save money--Scandinavia is expensive!! Learn to dance Salsa; it's the rage in Scandinavia!!

You don't say how long you'll be traveling. A few years ago our group landed in Helsinki, then a flight to Copenhagen, overnight ferry to Oslo, train-fjords ferry (Norway in a Nutshell) to Bergen, flight to Stockholm, then back to Helsinki and U.S. Hard to say what could be left out...all depends on what you want to see/do. We're in our 70s and loved it all with day trips out of each city.

It depends on your interests. Norway had a lot of natural beauty - fjords, etc - but is very low key - compared to the others.

For 2 women in their 20's I would reco Stockholm and Copenhagen - with lots of activities, museums, nightlife and shopping - as well as natural beauty and day trips to charming castles and adorable towns.

Helsinki has some great modern design and is a pretty city - but IMHO les to do then the others.
