Northern Ireland - October

My wife and I are considering traveling to Northern Ireland in mid/late October (only time that is available to us). I recognize that many people would suggest doing this in September; but we cannot. We have previously been to Dublin and a number of areas in Western Ireland. We would likely be on a 7 - 10 day trip; flying into and out of Dublin. Likely would be renting a car for all or most of the trip; and have driven in Ireland before. What might we anticipate the weather to be like at this time of year?? I recognize nobody can guarantee; but wondering what weather is a typical year might be like in October. What are some of the areas and/or sights that might be considered best to make sure we might see? Other suggestions??

I have done the coast in October and early May. It was cold both times but Oct was very sunny and clear. We live in hot humid weather so I love the change. Wool socks, books, down jacket, scarf and gloves.
