North Wales Lodging
We're interested in spending several days in North Wales and visiting Snowdonia. Any recommendations on where to stay - Conwy, Llandudno, or Aberystwyth? We like bed and breakfasts or self-catering apartments.

there are several good b& b's in Llandudno on craig-y-don parade on the promenade facing the bay. they are all very nice Albany, Manor, Derby,Britannia,Carmel, Grafton etc. some do not have a drinks licence or car parking. you need to ask. they all charge about the same Snowdondia is 25mins away. try to avoid mid July to August as it is very busy. June is a good time. check weather conditions before you go up snowdon there are many nice small towns/villages along the coast and the 'island' is very nice about 25 mins away

Conwy is very attractive, and getting into Snowdonia from there is straightforward. I was just in Conwy last week, but haven't been to Llandudno in years; from what I remember, Conwy is more attractive overall.
I agree with annhig that Aberystwyth would not be a good base.
I can recommend a B&B in Dolgellau, a significantly smaller town very well-located for walkers: Bryn Mair House. It's in an old rectory a few minutes' walk from the center of town, and it's just incredibly comfortable. I had the 'green room' with a view out over town, and I could happily have stayed in bed on a rainy day staring out the huge windows.

I now live in Llandudno having retired here a few years ago.
Tonight, I called in to the Albany and asked to see some rooms. They look very clean and comfortable, and Dennis the owner was very courteous.
