How is the Amalfi coast in June/July

Hi after many years of wanting I'm finally doing France/Italy by car and touring down to the Amalfi coast is it very busy June/July.

Also is it worth driving the SS366 road across the mountains to shortcut the road back to Naples

Thank you all for any help or advice

Phil

The AC is very busy in high season and the coast road is choc a block with cars, buses and commercial vehicles. If you're staying there, then try to make sure that your accommodation has parking. It's busier during the day with day trippers, whilst the evenings are more driveable, but still busy. If you're staying in the Conca dei Marini area, it's a nice drive across the 366 and probably quicker than through Sorrento, to join the E45 for Naples.

I've been in July a couple different years and while it is certainly crowded, it wasn't unbearable. But I am glad I wasn't driving. How long will you be there and where do you plan to base? I would make very sure the hotel had parking (not just ' parking available' which often means public parking within walking distance but no guarantee you'll get a spot). And I would probably use buses/boats to get around on day trips and not plan to drive. The driving is bad, but it's the parking (or lack of) that would make it miserable.
