No-frills, discount flights, Venice to ROme
Does anyone have experience with the no-frills airlines within Italy, particularly Venice to ROme. What are their names, and if possible, their web addresses. ANd what would one expect to pay? Is there more than one airport in Rome that they might fly to?
Many thanks. (My trip is the third week in June.)

You take a coach to Treviso from Piazzale Roma in Venice. It takes about 70 minutes.

It's not that much further to Treviso airport rather than Marco Polo airport - about 40 minutes more.
However, unless I really wanted to land at Rome's Ciampino airport, I wouldn't fly between these two destinations. Venice and Rome are close enough that I think the train makes more sense than flying, and you can often get a very good rate. I'd expect the train ride to take 5.5 - 6 hours, but it will put you right into Rome.

Hi T,
www.trenitalia.com will take you 1 cl on the ES* train from Venice San Lucia to Rome TE in 4:33 hr for 29E.
I'd rather do that than have to go out to VCE or Treviso and then come in from CIA or FCO.

I'd say a train may be better, as well. it's about 5 and a half hours or so, but no time wasted going through security lines and you are right in Rome - no taxis and waiting around after either. a flight wouldn't save a ton of time overall, door to door.
