Yep, Graduated more than 25 yeras ago from an engineering university. I still have dreams that I signed up for seven classes and attended and took the exams for say five of those classes. I sweat he impact to my grade average and ....

I am not going to steer my son to that experience.

I am addicted to travel planning, but the vast amount of information definitely sometimes makes me stressed about an upcoming trip.

Here's what I do to get myself reinvigorated: I start thinking about where I will go on the trip after the one I am currently planning. I take a few days off from obsessively reading every post ever written on my upcoming destination, and instead switch to reading about some place new. It works like a charm every time, and I return to my planning refreshed and ready to go!

My husband calls this "having one on the back burner." On analysis, it makes me feel better because it reminds me that travel isn't a once in a lifetime thing, but an ongoing series of journeys and experiences.

Perhaps knowing that there is always another trip waiting in the wings takes a little of the pressure off of the current trip, and so there is less worry about things going wrong, making the wrong choice of hotel or itinerary, etc.

Susan- you have a great trip coming up and you will enjoy it immensely. And even if you do get sick, have a bad tour guide, etc., as we always say when something bad happens on a trip, "You may be sick, but at least you are sick in Rome!"

I think the answer is that these dreams come in times of stress. A corollary one is the new mom who has dreams of packing the car with ALL the gear a baby needs and then driving off with the baby in the baby carrier still on the roof of the car!

This is so strange that so many have these dreams about classes/homework/exams in high school or college. As I said, I never missed a class or handed in a late assignment, and did enjoy college, so I'm not sure why I'm still dreaming about such a thing 30+ years later! Oh well, I know I'll have a great trip. And yes, I'm already thinking about future trips. Just have to get back to Paris...

I must admit I spent many many hours planning our trip to Italy in May and would worry many times about transportation, hotels, etc., but once on the trip everything just happened, always not as smoothly as hoped, but really well. Italy is such an easy country to get around, make mistakes and still have a wonderful time. We were there for a month and we are still smiling with all our wonderful memories.
