Night before flight

We have an 11:00 a.m. flight on Sunday, May 20th and are staying at Courtyard Marriott on Saturday night. We drive from Tuscany and return our rental car at FCO on Saturday afternoon/evening. How should we spend this last evening in Rome? Hanging around the airport hotel doesn't sound too appealing.

If you can change your reservation, I would stay in Rome that last night, especially with an 11:00 am flight (I'd do it even with a much earlier flight). So much nicer to have a nice dinner, go see the Trevi Fountain with all the lights on it and toss your coin, wander back to Piazza Navona and enjoy a Limoncello (or drink of your choice) at one of the cafes while you watch the fountains, people, artists, and performers. I wouldn't miss this! You have plenty of time to get to the airport from Rome in the morning.

Hotel has been paid for thru travel agent and we leave in 3 days. What's the best option form the Courtyard Marriot to Rome? Get a taxi? and then taxi back after dinner?

check with the hotel to see if they have a shuttle. If not, seems like it is taxi time. Have fun.

Susan P... I love your suggestion. Do you have any more recommendations or a hotel near the trevi fountain?

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in August also the night before we were flying home to the US. The hotel did have a shuttle service to/from downtown Rome.

What we did upon arrival in Rome was... check in at the hotel, drop off our luggage, get the tickets and shuttle info for the return trip that evening. Then we drove our rental car to FCO, returned the car, took the train at FCO to Stazione Termini, spent the afternoon/evening in Rome and then took the shuttle bus back to the Courtyard.

I think, not sure, we were on the last bus back to the hotel which departed at 11:00 or so. The meeting point was a hotel off Via del Corso towards Piazza Venezia.

basch, sorry, I'm not much help with a hotel, as I like to stay in an apartment, plus I like to stay right by Piazza Navona. Do a search here and you'll get a ton of information about hotels in Rome.
