Nice hotels on the Amalfi coast?

La Fenice is booked, we're looking for something nice but not more than $200. Can anyone help? End of May, thanks.

Hi Nina,

If you don't mind spending less, we liked the Hotel Le Sirene in Praiano.

Thanks again Ira, I contacted Hotel Le Sirene and they are also all booked for that week (May 22-30). I only need 3 nights during that week but I'm starting to get nervous, anymore suggestions would really be appreciated.

Try the Bellevue Serene in Sorrento. We really enjoyed it.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to look into your suggestions. I'm also expanding my horizons to Capri as I'm finding some of the best suggestions full. I appreciate the help, so keep them coming!

Try the Hotel Il Nido in Sorrento. The staff and owner (Gianni) are super friendly and accomodating, the hotel is located up on the hill overlooking the city of Sorrento and the ocean, and the food in the restaurant is excellent. It is very quiet at night. I think it was around $100 per night last year when we were there - air-conditioning, etc. Excellent value, clean, one of our favorites.

Hi,
Try the Tramonto D'Oro in Praiano. It is wonderful. Do a google search. Have fun.

We are going to the Amalfi Coast next month.
I am torn between staying at the Santa Caterina in Amalfi or
the San Pietro in Positano. Both look great. We do not want to make a mistake. Any thoughts/comparisons would be appreciated...

You know that both are out of their respective towns, right?

I've visited the Santa Caterina and it is, indeed, beautiful.

Since I favor Amalfi over Positano, it would be my choice based on location alone. But you do have a walk of about 15 minutes to reach the town of Amalfi.

Will you have a car? Do you plan to relax at the hotel, or to do some touring? Is price a consideration? Santa Caterina has some excellent off-season deals such as the 290 euros for a double superior sea view in April; not valid during the holiday period. Same room is 535 in high season.

San Pietro is much more costly.
