Nice Airport to Villefranche
We are hoping to holiday in Villefranche in early October - can anyone tell me the best way to get from Nice Airport to Villefranche, either by taxi or public transport, an idea of how long the journey would take and the cost please. We are also looking at hotels in that area such as the De la Darse, Le Flora and Le Versailles - does anyone have any comment on any of them. Thanks in advance for your help.

Nice choice ! I would take a taxi, especially if you have any luggage. It will cost you about 25 euros and shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. I've seen people trying to navigate the train with a few suitcases and they did not look like they were having a good time of it.

There is a bus from the Nice airport to Monaco which probably stops at Villefranche, however, they probably will only drop you at the bus stop and then you have to get to your hotel.
Take a taxi - at least you'll have door-to-door service, especially with luggage. Whatever, the extra cost it'll give you peace of mind.

According to the Nice airport website
http://www.nice.aeroport.fr/acces_st.../recherche.asp
there is no bus service to Villefranche (amazing).
If you do a text search here-villefranche AND hotels- you should find some info on the Flora (I thought it was the Flore). I remember at least 1 poster has stayed there & liked it.
I stayed at the Hotel Welcome-reasonably priced, clean & comfortable-in a room facing the water (the marina) with a small balcony. Jean Cocteau (artist, writer, director, set designer) spent time in Villefranche. My room was decorated with a mural in his whimsical style.
The Welcome is not easy to find the first time (you can see it from the road but can't figure out how to get there!) On check-in, they provide a small map which solves the problem.
While Villefrnache has train service linking to other towns along the coast, you might consider renting a car for more flexibility to explore the hill towns.

When we arrived in Nice our rental car company had screwed up and there were no cars whatsoever available. We had to take a taxi to our hotel i Villefranche and the fare was closer to E50. this was late at night so I don't know if the rate was higher because of that, but I'm guessing E25 is a low estimate.
