If you mean New York City in the US then you would probably be better off posting on the US forum.

What type of hints do you want? Will you be in the city or are you going to NY state and need driving hints.

Do you want sightseeing tips or what to wear tips or food tips or how not to get splashed by taxi tips?

Clothing wise bring a jacket to keep you dry and an umbrella. Turtlenecks and a fleece vest will help keep out the damp. Bring gloves and a warm scarf.

Please let us know what you're looking for.

Right now, the weather in NYC has been unseasonably cold. When it's cold and wet and windy, it feels worse. The weather might be milder then. I like to check online prior to departure for a general idea and pack for all possibilities (layers). The clothing suggestions above are good ones.

"A small group of ten"???? How exactly is a group of 10 people small? First piece of advice is if you intend on eating every meal together, someone better start planning out restaurants. menupages.com and opentable.com should be helpful. Getting service for 10 people sitting at one table is not going to be either easy or cheap. Many restaurants will add a service charge/tip automatically to your bill for groups of that size.

Dressing in layers is always the name of the game in NYC. Inside in shops and some museums it can be stiflingly warm while outside it can be cold and windy. Scarves, gloves and COMFORTABLE shoes are a must.

First of all, yea!!!!! You are going to have a wonderful time no matter what the weather. Yucky outside? Go to a Museum. Although, DH and I were there when the remnants of a hurricane slammed into the city and some of the subways closed for a while.

I'd say do what you do at home for bad weather. mclaurie's layer advice is perfect.

What places have you planned to visit so far?

For late Nov early Dec you could get warmish (high of 50 0 or coldish (high of 30) - so you need a warm coats and hat, Glovs dna scarf and well-broken in waterproof waling soes as well as a sturdy folding umbrella.

10 is not a small group. Agree if you are eating toegether you wil need to make advance reservations - sincemost plasce need to organize in advance for more than 4 or 5.

You don;t say how long you're be ther or waht your interests are or where you'll be staying - so hard to give a lot of specific advice.

A couople of notes. AVoid tour or HOHO buses - walk or take the subway ore regular ciyt bus - mouch fster and more convenient. (Go to the MTA website to download maps.) If you want to do a braodway show (broadwaybox.com) or Statue of Liberty - get tickets now - since the latter sells out and the former usualy has seats for 2 peopple or at most 4 - not 10.

I have the sense that the OP is part of a small organized travel group for whom arrangements for the trip have been made - e.g. restaurant reservations, theater, museum visits, etc. However, there may be some free time and if the OP will clarify - perhaps some suggestions for that could be made.

I apologise for not returning replies!
My computer packed up and by the time it was fixed I was away.
The following is quite true...

'I have the sense that the OP is part of a small organized travel group for whom arrangements for the trip have been made - e.g. restaurant reservations, theater, museum visits, etc. '

Yes, all went well and the organiser was great. I had nothing to worry about.
The trip was quite the highlight of the year for me.
A wonderful, vibrant city full of happy friendly people. I was most impressed!!!
Thank you all for replying and giving as much info as you did, considering how sparse my query was.
I'm off to England in late April and for all May and I'm now posting very, very full posts
Sorry once again for being super-tardy in replying.
