Hi Betty...yes, I get the technical error message right after I hit the selection of trains. This is driving me crazy...I got a little hopeful when my computer took it's time getting to the message but in the end the technical error showed up again. I keep deleting my cookies, turning my computer on and off but still the same problem. I may try to use a friends computer tomorrow...maybe that's the key, my computer just doesn't like me...lol

Again, thank you so much for trying and all the help you've given me. I really appreciate everyones suggestions and encouragement. I'll let you know if I'm successful tomorrow.

Hi,

I'm "studying" for the purchase of train tickets from Paris-Avignon and Avignon-CDG (which I will buy as 2 one-way tickets).

I've been playing around with dates that are 90 from today, and noticed that May 25 has better PREMS than May 26. What if this happens when I try to book for real, should I wait and keep trying to get lower fares, or should I go for the first PREM that I see? (I do have specific dates and times on June 5-June 10)

I hope this makes sense. I've been on that wesite for hours and my brain is fried!

thanks,
dk

dk,

The cheapest Prem's sell out first. The longer you wait, the higher the fare.

EUREKA!!!!
I must say I finally got my tickets...it took me all morning but by some wonderful miracle the site worked for me today. I did have to do each way individually. I did the Paris to Caen, then the Caen to Bayeux and finally the Bayeux to Paris leg. It took a while and once the after I hit purchase the site came back saying my Bank didn't honor my card...knew nothing was wrong with my card or limit so waited about a half hour and tried again. Got a little worried I would only get to Bayeux and have to walk back to Paris...smile...but it finally worked. I selected the option of picking up the tickets at a train station or sncf boutique and found out that there is one just a couple of blocks from our apartment so that will help a lot.

Betty1, TimS and others, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for walking me thru this...I couldn't have done it without your help and encouragement to keep trying. Everyone, hang in there and keep trying. If I can help answer any specific questions, let me know.

Félicitations, AR2Go! I'm glad your persistance finally paid off. I'm sure you'll enjoy your couple of days in Bayeux.

dkAz, as Tim says, Prem's fares rarely, if ever, go down. (I did once get a slightly lower price at a later date.) And there's no predicting, as far as I know, whether a particular train on a particular day will offer Prem's or at what price. You'll just have to see what's on offer when the 90 day window opens. At that point, if you are able to be flexible at all, you can decide if it's worth changing your travel date or time to get a better price.

mariebut, I assume you are talking about the bottom of the page where it says "Sélectionnez le pays de réception ou de retrait des billets." If so, just leave it as France. Then, if you have the option (only applies to Prem's and a few other special tickets, AFAIK) you can choose to print them. Otherwise, you can indicate that you will pick them up at the station or in a SNCF Office ("boutique&quot. Unless you are taking several train rides, you probably don't need a pass. Hope that answers your question. If not, repost.

Thanks Betty1 great info, I will try a few "test runs" and hold off buying a pass. When is the appropriate time to start looking for PREMs is it 60 or 90 days or something else. The sites www.sbb.chf and www.trentalia.com seem really easy to use and hopefully I wont have any trouble printing off these tickets or even the ticketless option in Italy. Thanks again
