Should I just do another clue, and if Harzer eventually comes back and tells me I'm wrong the worst that happens is we'll have two words going at the same time? I will be away from computers for several hours later today, so if I don't do it soon, i can't until around 9 p.m.

Yeah! I got one that isn't in France! (Thanks to google I know every place in the world that you can buy silk comforters stuffed with goose down!)
OK, don't hit me on the head for this one. Many pilgrims stopped here (and still do) to view the stolen relics.
7 letters, third one is N.
We're having a storm here, so I'm shutting down my computer and going to bed. Will check back first thing in the morning.

Are we tiring of the game or is my last one too hard? In case it's the latter let me say that I seem to be stuck in the same general area of France. If there are no further guesses by tonight I'll reveal my answer and then just let this die a natural death.

I can't play during the work day, unless I can come up with the answer immediately without doing any research (not likely). People will come and go on the thread. I still like the game, but I just haven't gotten around to thinking about your clue.

Betty, I wasn't really on the right track, was I? You don't need to be so charitable. I've never heard of Conques, I'm afraid, and am most unlikely ever to go there, although I see from the map that I wasn't far away in 1964 when i passed through the Gorges du Tarn.

You got it, kismetchimera! And harzer, yes, you were on the right "path" (fr. "chemin"
since Conques was, and is, one of the stops for pilgrims en route to Saint Jacques de Compostelle.
BTW, did you get my "don't hit me (conk me) on the head" clue? (You may groan now.)
According to legend a 9th century monk from Conques stole the relics of Sainte Foy from the community in Agen where she was martyred.
So, over to you, kc.
