Need suggestions for Granada hotel that's easy to get to with a car.
We have one night to spend in Granada and want to visit The Alhambra. From all the posts I've read, it sounds like we will have to leave our car in a car park. With that, are there any hotels easier to get to? I've gotten directions from a couple hotels and it seems really complicated. Any help would be appreciated.

The Parador in Alhambra is actually really easy. Not cheap though but you can walk some of the grounds late at night as a bonus. You drive in & you have to follow the signs to the hotel - to the left - & talk to a guard. I missed it the first time & had to drive all the way around. I waved my confirmation at him & we drove right in. The hordes of tourists walking up the drive can be a pain but it was easy.

Hi
When I visited the Alhambra I vaguely remember a hotel essentially next door to it. I think it was the Hotel America Granada - http://www.hotelamericagranada.com. I recollect there was plenty of parking there. But you need to check with the hotel or maybe other Fodorites can enlighten you. You really need to state your budget (in euro) to narrow down your choices.

Reaching a car park in downtown Granada these days, with large sections of downtown blocked off to all but local residents, can be a major headache. These days downtown Granada and a vehicle are just not a good mix at all!
It you only have one night and your focus is the Alhambra, I'd urge you to choose a hotel on the Alhambra hill for complete ease of access and for a savings of money. To reach the Alhambra you take a ring road, the Ronda Sur (Carretera de Circunvalación), which takes you up and avoids completely the maddening downtown maze, where you would inevitably just get lost. Just follow the pink Alhambra signs which will lead you up and around.
There are several hotels on the Alhambra hill which either have their own parking or are adjacent to the huge Alhambra parking lot. Which one you choose will depend on your budget.
Inexpensive-Hotel Guadalupe (good value) and Alixares (noisy rooms but has a pool)
Moderate-Hotel América, next to the Parador, and within the Alhambra complex itself but must book far in advance
Expensive-Alhambra Palace with handy valet parking
Very expensive and must book far in advance-Parador de San Francisco, which has its own parking lot

Hi B-B
here I am recommending the guadelope again [mentioned by Maribel above as her good value suggesion]. it's right opposite the alhambra, you can park in the large alhambra car-park at a discount, and for €60 a night, we got a large double with a really good bathroom. the brweakfast was fine and we had a good meal [ox-tail stew which they obviously didn't believe we eat at home too] after we went to see the alhambra a night.
don't see how you could go wrong!
regards, ann
ps - for a really unusual experience, get the bus from outside the alhambra ticket-office or walk down to the centre, then head for the tapas bars behind the square. look particularly for the "pulperia" which sells more sorts of tapas made of octpus than you could ever imagine. and don't forget to book your alhambra tickets for both day and night before you go.
