Need some info and opinions for traveling from NY to Europe....
Hi everyone,
I hope good people onthis forum can help me out with their opinions and ideas so I can use it to make up my mind. I am a 35 years young, male and I am looking to get away for 2 weeks from NY and go to europe. I have been to germany, england, france, check republic and italy. I would like to go somewhere which I can meet friendly people, night life, women who are not stuck up, and maybe beaches. I am sure some of us if not all of us in some point of our life need to relax and enjoy life. Unfortunately I have lost my job for a few months now and have come up empty looking for work so I decided to go away before summer is over. But I also want to go where I dont spend too much money. I am probably asking for too much but I hope u guys can give me some good info and ideas based on what I explained above. I thank all of you in advance for your opinions and your time.
Wish you all health and happiness.
London.

Greece...
but Fodors forum is not as good for economizers as Greece forum Trip Advisor and also Thorn Tree (LP ) Greece forum, more info and night life & budget places... also, unlike italy, the lodging prices go down markedly after Sept 10 or so. of course, flights there are more expensive but if you go on Kayak or Mobissimus and look for flights with 2 connections, you can get something for about $700 in early/mid september.

Copenhagan. But that is really expensive. Would you consider Germany again? Berlin is cheap tons of nightlife and people are friendly. Barring that Spain would be a good choice. Either barcelona or Madrid. Though Barcelona could be said to be a bit friendlier. Valencia would also fit.

In Portugal, Lisbon would be about the best bet for nightlife; it's more expensive than small towns in Portugal but there is no nightlife in the small towns. The Portuguese people are very friendly. I can't help you with meeting women. You can take day trips to the beaches from Lisbon.
When you ask how expensive a place is compared to the USD you'd have to tell us where in NY you live. If you live within the 5 boroughs or environs you'll find Portugal dirt cheap compared to the US. If you're from upstate then Portugal would still be a bargain. Outside of the Lisbon area a dinner with 1/2 bottle of wine costs about $12 to $15; slightly more in Lisbon.
