Croatia or Portugal? Which do you prefer?
I'm planning a trip this summer to either Croatia or Portugal. I wanted to get some feedback from my fellow Fodor travelers on which destination you prefer and why. I am looking to get YOUR preference.
I know I want to see visit both places someday but will only have time to see one this time around. Your feedback will help me make my decision.
Any help is great appreciated!!

Portugal is very much a varied place with a strong beach tourist industry along the south, which can be overwhelming. The wine is extremely good, the train system pretty good and I'd feel comfortable just about anywhere.
For me, the highlights of Croatia are the coast, yes there are tourists, but not as many, I don't like Dubrovnik anymore due to the ships, but Trogir and Split are good alternatives. The Islands make up for a lot, the wine is less good

Haven't been to Croatia (no desire to visit). Love, love, love Portugal. The country has so much to offer! We have made various roadtrips all over Portugal. Porto is my favourite city, the Alentejo has the most beautiful scenery and the beaches in the (eastern) Algarve are wonderful.
