Need quick help with hotel near Blue Mosque in Istanbul
Fellow Fodorites....I need some quick help. A friend is trying to plan a quick trip to Istanbul and wants to stay in a hotel near the Blue Mosque.
I've stayed at the President Hotel twice and it was fine for my purposes (shopping at the Grand Bazaar), but they will be travelling with their 2 young daughters and I don't think they would be comfortable with the location of the President.
Can anyone recommend a nice, moderate-somewhat upscale hotel within easy walking distance of the major sites? Not the Four Seasons.....probably looking in the $150-200 a night range.
Thanks!

I recommend the Seven Hills Hotel or the Blue Hills Hotel!! Both are owned by the same family- my friends actually- and they are lovely. Clean, great breakfast, wonderfully furnished boutique style hotels.

Have a look at the Empress Zoe http://www.emzoe.com/htm/124/rar.ph
There are a lot of photos on the website and they are a good representation of the place. I stayed there a few years ago and have recommended it since to a couple of friends. It's a wonderful hotel

We haven't stayed there yet, but we're staying at The Seven Hills Hotel in July. It's apparently across the street from The Four Seasons, so very close to many of the main tourist sites. All I can say is that the young owner of The Seven Hills has been a delightful e-mail correspondent, full of good information both about the hotel and Istanbul.
