Plan to fly into LHR and go directly by bus to Bath for four nights. Want to spend the last three nights in London. Where would be a convenient area to stay that wont require major navigating? I am traveling solo. Will have a mid-morning departure flight from LHR. Trying to minimize finding-the-hotel and/or getting-to-the-airport frustrations without actually staying at an airport hotel. THANKS!!!!!

You wont find one location that wont require any navigating - London is huge, so you will need to use buses and the tube to get around and see the sites.

Central London is really easy to navigate. Pack lightly (so you're not dragging a huge suitcase up and down steps), have Tube and street maps, and you shouldn't have many issues. Pick a hotel near a Tube station (most are), and as jamikins said, if you plan to take the Tube back to LHR for your flight, make sure to find one near a Piccadilly line stop. South Kensington is popular; I prefer to stay in Bloomsbury (near the Russell Square or Holborn stops on the Piccadilly line), but that's personal preference. More of the things I usually want to do are in walking distance of Bloomsbury.

Wherever you stay, if you take the Tube from Paddington, it's likely you might have to change Tube lines. Not a big deal (especially if you do pack lightly) - the Tube has very clear signage. Just plan ahead so you know what stop you need and what direction you need to go (northbound/southbound, for example).

What is your budget? That will let people give you more specific suggestions. There are MANY threads here - do a search to get you started.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have no problem navigating about for sightseeing, it's the finding-the-hotel and getting-to-the-airport stuff that I just hate, especially when I am alone. I am a very light traveler and will have minimal luggage.
