Has anyone heard of or taken a trip with a travel compnay in greece called true greece? If so are they a legit reliable company? Any feedback would be helpful

I think that they are based outside of Greece, and as per their website they have an office in Greece.
Ask them for the EOT license number if you have any doubts, this would be their official license for operating in Greece.

Have never heard of them in Greece, and i know the Greek Travel market very well. Maybe they don't operate inside Greece ( which means all their clients are coming from abroad)

Try google with this google link www.google.gr This will give you the google Greece website. You'll get a lot more hits looking for tour companies on the local google.

I think i have already answered the question, and i am based in Greece.( plus i know the local travel market)
The website is http://www.truegreece.com and it should come up after every search, and not only through google.gr

Looks like a specialized travel agency in the US and UK putting together luxury trip for families or small groups.

If that is what you're looking for I would check them out through tripadvisor and cruisecritic - but they many not appear on either if they are so personalized.

As a back-up you can ask for personal references.

But - is this what you are looking for? Their prices are definitely upscale. And I would be very hesitant to work with any company that isn't open about pricing.

Stick with Dolphin-Hellas Travel or Fantasy Travel, both based in Athens. You'll get what you want at competitive prices and be dealing with someone local who can come to your assistance in case of an emergency.

I emailed them and they sent me an itenanraie thats withing my budget and includes everything i want to do. But dince im a solo traveler i dont want to invest money inless i know thete reliable ive been doing research they are listed in conde nast travel magazine and travel and leisure . Havemt found allot of reviews on them but the few i found were good but still weary

I also have been looking at the same trip i want to do with another company i know for a fact are reliale because ive used them before the price is the same as true greece except the hotels are not as luxe as true greece so im debating which one to go with

It's good to see the owner of a travel company responding in this way. I think a number of answers to questions on this website are only from people who have little knowledge of a place eg for one day or are only arm chair travellers or dreamers. Or as the person who asked if anyone had used a hop on hop off bus for where she was going she got replies from people who quoted cities she was not visiting, no help at all.

There are many experienced posters here, who know exactly the destinations they are writing about.

Please don't underestimate us, we don't have to own a travel agency, to give right and accurate information.

I didn't say there were not many experienced posters, I said there seemed to be many inexperienced posters, so reply to the posting and don't twist things around just because you decided to take offence. And to say 'underestimate' almost sounds like a threat. Understimate what may I ask? Read my posting again. I have proven many times that my knowledge of some travel subjects are better than some travel agents I have met but my comment had nothing to do with travel agents. Then when I need to I also consult a travel agent so it works both ways. On to your next post.....

Intended or not, your post did look like a criticism of the many posters who, without any thought of profit, contribute to this forum. This is, after all, a forum for travellers, and when the occasional inaccuracy creeps in, other posters are usually quick to correct it.

I, for one, would not want Fodor's to become a forum where travellers ask questions, and answers are given by travel agents, hotel owners, and others with vested interests. While TrueGreece's post was helpful and informative, it also included information which could be construed as advertising.

Perhaps the issue here is that

1) most posters here are indepedent travelers who organize their own trips - and think doing so is a significant part of the enjoyment

2) I believe most posters here travel in the more moderate price range - not the luxury range range epitomized by this company

IMHO (and I have been to europe more than 90 times) most travel agents are not able to make arrangements/provide information for the average traveler her. All they an do are provide packages to Disney or reco bus tours. And many have never even BEEN to europe - or have a clue what it is really like. (My experience has been either with large chain agents - one of whom insisted the only St Pet was in Florida) or corporate agents - who have often never been outside their own state. But these are the type of agents most modest/moderate travelers have access to.) We often use the latter to get better corporate rates - but do all of the planning ourselves - since the corporate agents tend to steer you to american chain hotels.

If one wants a luxury tour - and has the funds to pay for it and the fees of the agent - and is not familiar with the country - using a specialized upscale travel agent makes sense.

Few people here are in that position.
