Need ideas for Vienna - New Years Eve
Hello everyone!
As we'll be in Vienna for New Years Eve we need ideas for a great night in the city.
We are 3 couples around mid thirties and we would like to experience some of the open air festivities but at the same time i don't think we could stand the cold (being all night out in the streets) or struggling to walk 10 meters from the massive crowd
So i was thinking that the best option is to enjoy the 'street' festivities from 8 until 9.30 approximately and then go to a nice restaurant around Stefansplatz and maybe get out at midnight in order to see the fireworks etc..
(And after midnight do the festivities continue or everyone goes home?
About restaurants i've found this: http://www.doco.com/deutsch/index_restaurants_de.htm or this: http://www.skybar.at/index_webpage.html
But please i would love to hear other suggestions and advice for restaurants and Vienna in general!

Its quite a few years since we were in Vienna just before Xmas. We adored the atmosphere then. It's such a sophisticated place.
I would think for NYEve you will have to book early(like now) to get into a nice restaurant. When we were in Madrid and Prague for NY, it was an all inclusive price for food and drinks.

Although not posted on their web sit I believe Gerstner is doing a NYE buffet at the Kunsthistorisches museun. It may be worth contacting them:
