Need ideas for the ultimate engagement weekend in Paris!!!

I want to take my girlfriend to Paris for a weekend and get engaged, but I can't think of the best way to do it once in Paris. Need some help. Please reply with romantic ideas of how or where I should do it. I want it to be as amazing as possible, but not cheesy. (the more creativity, the better)
Thank you.

You might want to pick up a copy of a new book called "Romantic Paris" by Thirza Vallois. You can find it in the travel section of a lot of major book sellers, like Barnes & Noble and Borders.

It has pictures of some really beautiful romantic spots in Paris. Once you find the place, I'm sure you'll be able to think of the best way.

Best of luck to you.
If you plan on spending a few dollars, perhaps you might consider asking over dinner at Jules Verne, the restaurant in the Eiffel Tower. If you splurge on a decent bottle of wine, you're probably looking at $250 to $400 for dinner. Alternatively, and for significantly more money, you can rent a suite at the Crillion or Plaza Athenee.

For much less money, there is a walking bridge on the Seine, just in front of the Louvre. Maybe some wine around sunset.

If the weather is nice, and its open, there is a outdoor deck on the top floor of the D'Orsay, that has a spectacular view of Paris.

Good luck.

I once saw someone propose outdoors at the top of the Eiffel Tower. May be a more economical way to do it there, if you don't want to spend a lot. Just try to pick a time when it's not too crowded.

There are really a LOT of romantic places in Paris that would fit the bill. Elle's suggestion sounds like a good one. You'll probably know it the second you see it in a photo.

Good luck!
messedup,

How about an outdoor cafe table over a bottle of wine and cheese? Just choose one that is not on a busy street. Place St. Catherine is nice. Romance is different for everyone!

We just had a similar post within the past few months. Folks gave all sorts of great suggestions. Do a search and see if you can pull it up. While we are making suggestions..there is the Pont Neuf, Notre Dame either inside or outside, the gardens at the Rodin museum. I also think room service at your hotel with a great bottle of french champagne and the "ring" placed somewhere she can find it on the tray. Paris is amazing..it's very romantic..if you can bear the wait to pop the question why not poke around the city until you find a place you both really like..find your way back to it and ask her there.

This put post made me think of friend of mine who had a similiar situtation. My friend Michael's sister lives in Paris and he and Gloria were off to spend 10 days there and Michael was going to propose...he had gotton the Very Expensive Ring here in San Francisco and his main problem was hiding it as he and Gloria were sharing some of the same bags. His plan was to meet up with his sister and then pop the question at the top of the Effiel Tower. Sacre Bleu! It was pouring rain for the first two days! Meanwhile the poor guy is completely paranoid about having the ring stolen while on his person waiting for just the right moment. He solved this by wearing a fanny pack (while Gloria was wondering why he was walking around looking like a geek). Days pass...no romantic opportuity..the girls keep putting off going to the Tower.
Finally, they're off in the country, the sun is shining and he's almost ready to propose, and....a German tour group wanders in. It took him until Day 7 of the trip to get to the Tower where he DID finally propose. Gloria's answer: "yes, and where did you have the ring all this time??!!

Melodie

If you are going to do it at the top of the Eiffel Tower, make sure you do not drop the ring. It could kill someone below if the rock is big enough.
