The most romantic place in Paris

Everyone surely has there own favorite place in Paris deemed their most romantic... I just can't help thinking about the Pont des Arts.

Where the view is amazing (Notre Dame's bell towers, the Louvre, Samaritaine, the Musee d'Orsay, the top 3/4th's of the Eiffel Tower, docked boats, cobblestoned quais) but I suppose being on the river (especially late at night or before dawn in the morning)draws me to it time and time again, either alone or with a special person.

The monuments are glowing a pale gold against a dark sky, the traffic is at it's most 'minimal' (aside fromt he occasinal police sirens and motos) and the only sounds you can hear are your footsteps over the wooden planks, the repetitive constant hum of the river boats churning through the water underneath you and if lucky, a lone saxophonist on the quai whose notes are carried on the wind towards you. Probably 'La Vie en Rose'.

Even during the late afternoons, when the bridge can be quite crowded with tourists and artists with their easels, my friends and I throw down a blanket, open a few bottles of wine and everyone brings an hor d'oeurve of some kind whether it is cheese, bread, picholine olives, prosciutto, ripe melons, etc... and we read the papers, chat to catch up, wind blowing gently...

Because of the beauty around us, I never fail to realize how gorgeous the blue sky can be filled with white clouds (what we refer to as a 'Monet' sky) and the entire world (it seems IMHO) right in front of us and being surrounded by all these things... it makes me stop and notice and think that it is truly an incredibly beautiful place, the 'center' of Paris, whether alone, or with friends, or with a special someone...
