Need hotel recommendations for Madrid, Segovia, Salamanca and Toledo

I'm working on plans for my trip to Spain in July (yes I know it will be hot). I'm thinking of several nights each in Segovia, Salamanca, Toledo and Madrid. I'm finding decent looking hotels in the range of €50 for a single, with air conditioning. But recommendations from people here are important to me. I can go higher than €50 if I need to but I prefer to save money for other things and my needs are pretty simple. Obviously AC is a must, but other than that all I need is clean, safe, and central location. I'm not fussy about furnishings, etc. I just came back from Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada where I had great accomodations for €60-80 for a double so the places I'm finding seem to be in that range.

So, any recs?

look at www.gtahotels.com , www.easyjet.com and www.rumbo.es to get ideas on prices.

you might see a familiar recommended one there.

Isabel,

In Madrid, Hostal La Macarena is clean and very well located. I would stay there again.

We stayed at Hostal Corbero - great location close to Atocha Station and the 3 big art museums, as well as walking distance to Puerto del Sol. another nice sister hostal across the street. www.hostalcorbero.com and www.hostaldulcinea.com. 50E in Nov. -05. You can find my review with photos on TripAdvisor. In Salamance, Pension Las Vegas was well-located, very clean, and pleasant. Close to the Plaza Mayor and University. About 35E for a double

Thanks for the replys. I'd been considering Hostal La Macarena. I looked at the Hostal Corbero and it doesn't look like it has AC so that's out.

I'm seriously considering the Hotel El Prado, has anyone had any experience with it?

Still looking for suggestions, especially for the other three towns.

Fantastic to find someone else looking for accommodation at that price level.

It is so do-able, but rare on this site.

You will come back and tell us where you stayed in Salamanca and Segovia, won't you? (haven't been there yet).

As for Toledo, can I recommend:

Hotel Santa Isabel
Santa Isabel, 24
Toledo 45002
Spain

It isn't easy to find. But once you have, you will enjoy being close to the centre of things. I was there late June 2004. Travelling solo. My room was small but hey - you only need it to sleep in. Bathroom fine; staff pleasant.

I also have a recommendation for Madrid but can't remember if it had a/c. I would have turned it off probably if it had. I prefer open windows. In Europe at least!!

Let me know if you are interested and I will find the details. It was excellently located for the Prado, and within walking distance of Atocha Station.

Owner didn't speak much English, though. Is that a consideration for you?
