NEED HOTEL IN MAIN SHOPPING AREA-FLORENCE

Hi fellow Fodorians,

I'll be making a trip to Florence from June 20th-23rd. Would anyone be able to recommend me a business class hotel that is situated right at the main shopping area. E-mail/URL add or phone/fax no. of the recommended hotel will be appreciated. I've gone thru some posting and found that most recommendation do not come with any contact no. so.......
Thank you.

ciao nick!

maybe it will be a hard time to find a hotel now. from the 21st to the 25th is Pitti Uomo, a huge yearly fashion show for designers. in this time florence is 100% fully booked. the designers do all the bookings 1 year ahead. good luck!! you can try it with Gallery Hotel Art....

tanti saluti

christina

We just stayed at the Hotel Continental last month. I didn't find it to be bare bones at all. We had the corner room on the fourth floor with a view of the Ponte Vecchio in both directions, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the bathroom was the nicest of all we had in Italy - fluffy towels! The staff could not have been more accomodating. It's right near all the nice shops.

They have a very good website
Not sure if the location is what you want but its 1/2 between train station and Duomo.
I loved this hotel the room was nice, and front desk was good also.

We used the Hotel Machevelli (spelling?) right in center of town near the train station. It was pleasant with nice rooms and good breakfast. They have a web page but you will have to spell it right to find it ...
