Need Hotel at CDG for 6:40 am Flight
We have a 6:40 am Lufthansa flight out of CDG which connects with our 9:55 am flight from Frankfurt to Miami. We need to stay at a hotel in or near CDG so we can catch this early flight. The Sheraton in CDG is $400 for one night. That is really a lot to spend for a mediocre hotel, but if it makes sense to stay right in the airport, we will pay the big bucks.
I would appreciate any other suggestions of less expensive, but decent hotels, which have shuttles that can get us to the airport in time to check in for a 6:40 am flight!!
Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Hi, glsebs.
We had a 7 AM flight from CDG in October and thought we had found the perfect solution. We moved from our hotel to the airport hotel the night before our flight, after being assured the hotel shuttle would be available 24 hours. This was the Holiday Inn, not Holiday Inn Express. I made the reservation using the 800 number in the US. I questioned them very carefully about being sure the shuttle was available 24 hours. They insisted it was.
We arrived at the hotel the evening before and were told after checking in that the shuttle was not available at 5 AM, our requested time. It only arrives at 5:30 and then we weren't assured of being the first ones delivered to our terminal. It was a major mess with a lot of arguing going back and forth. They finally said they would arrange a cab for 5 AM, and since we were rather stranded at that point, we said OK, but of course we had to pay extra for it.
Guess what? The "cab" arrived on time, emblazoned with HOLIDAY INN on it, but we had to pay the private rate. It was abour 20 Euro, but that was not exactly the point. We paid extra for the Holiday Inn rather than the Express because the HI was supposed to have the 24 hour shuttle.
So, a cautionary tale: Just because a hotel says it has a shuttle, doesn't mean it will get you to the airport in time for your flight.
There have been numerous threads about CDG hotels and how easy it is to use a train that whisks you to the airport, but we were on a long trip and had luggage and camera equipment that wasn't easy to handle and that's why we chose the hotel.
Put in a search for the threads on this topic and read them. There must surely be hotels out there, though I don't know how to link it here. Or, be prepared to stay close by and have the hotel order a taxi. That way you get a private and direct ride to the airport.
Oh, and our terminal had NOTHING open when we arrived. We were about 10th in line and waited for the check in and security to open, but if we'd been much later we would have been about 200th in line and never made our flight.
Best of luck.
Rates in late October were $175. per room.

I've stayed at the Hilton at CDG and thought it was quite nice. It probably won't be cheap but I doubt it will be $400.
It also might be worth bidding on priceline for a 4* at the airport. While there are no guarantees, you're likely to get one of the Hilton, Sheraton or Novotel Wellness and Convention Center. Generally, I don't think of Novotels as being of the same standard as Hiltons and Sheratons, but it has good reviews on tripadvisor. I wouldn't recommend bidding on 3* hotels at the airport because the risk of getting a seriously disappointing hotel are much greater.

Most of the airport shuttles begin at 5:30am. In October, I stayed at the Pullman (formerly Sofitel) at the CDG airport. I used their shuttle, but it begins at 5:30am also. Check Tripadvisor for hotels at CDG, and stay at a hotel accessible to the CDG VAL, the automatic subway. I checked my Pullman info sheet, and it says that the CDG VAL operates 24 hours a day, with trains every 5 minutes. I think there are a couple of hotels with walking access to the subway. Check out their maps. I think some might be with Accor (check our accor.com). I don't think you have to pay $400 for the Sheraton. Just take a taxi from the airport hotel to the terminal, if the subway doesn't work for you.

I just booked the Comfort Hotel Airport CDG for 85 euro per night...I used the choicehotels.com site to book online.
We did get a 50+ (senior) rate if that works for you; otherwise, it shouldn't be that much higher without the discount. You could use AAA, etc as well.

We stayed at the Hilton CDG last June, we too had a very early Lufthansa flight to FRA then home. The Hilton shuttle got us to the terminal when we wanted to get there. The hotel is very nice and the customer service was terrific. We used Hilton Honors points for the stay so I don't know the actual room cost.

We stayed at the Hilton CDG last November. The service was excellent and the room was very nice. What I remember most, however, was the restaurant, which had a wonderful salad bar. The early morning shuttle got us to the airport without any trouble at all.

I just booked the Ibis CDG Terminal Hotel and got a rate of $75. Its non refundable. The hotel gets pretty decent overall reviews. I arrive in from Montpellier at night and my flight is the following morning. I just cant see spending a few hundred dollars on a room for a few hours. As long as the room is clean, I can make do for the few hours that I will be spending there. Best of luck.

There is more than one Ibis hotel near CDG. Like travelme, I'll recommend the one which is next to Terminal 3 and close by the free 24/7 CDGVAL driverless shuttle train that serves all the terminals. For more information, go here: http://tinyurl.com/5bkozd.
