Need hip advice for a group trip to Paris.

We are in our late 20s and are planning a couples trip to Paris in March -- there are ten couples. Most of us have been there before so sightseeing and shopping will be on our own. However, what I need help with are restaurants, hotels, hip clubs, etc...

I'm looking for several things:
1) Hotel suggestions in the $150-200 per night price range.

2) Where can I arrange a group dinner cruise along the Siene? We don't mind spending a lot for a nice evening.

3)Restaurants that are moderately priced and that can easily accommodate our party of 20 people.

4) The fun, hip nightclubs/live music spots.

This website is fantastic, and I appreciate all of the good advice I've received over the years.

TWENTY Americans having dinner at the same table? Au secours! Bring the Boules Quies ! I am really reluctant to give you any advice, in an attempt not to bother the quietness of my fellow Parisians. Seriously, I think that, whatever - major cosmopolitan - city you're in, a group of twenty people will never fit in a "hip" place.

I agree with the above post (split up between 2 tables in smaller places) but big brasseries like La Coupole or Boffinger can accomodate you. Don't know how "hip" they are now, but they're classic Paris good food & fun.

I would first suggest that you do a text search on here and look up Paris restaurants, Paris hotels, Clubs, etc and see what you get.

There are several companies that do Seine dinner cruises, I suppose their web sites would have info on reservation contacts:
www.bateauxparisiens.com
www.batea ux-mouches.fr
www.vedettesdeparis.com

There are a lot of hip night spots in the 11th arrondisement you might like, as well as some in the 4th, such as Cithea (www.cithea.com), the Bataclan, the Cafe Charbon. I'd suggest you review some guidebooks or web sites such as
www.timeout.com
www.net-europa.com/gap/ (see Adam's nightlife)
www.danse-a-2.com
www.sortir.com
www.novaplanet.com
w ww.parissi.com

Some of those may be only in French, I don't remember.

Why don't you think about the Hotel Artus in St-Germain, it's pretty hip (I think that's the one that used to be the Buci Latin, which is what I mean), or the nearby Lenox St-Germain.

The minute 20 young, loud Americans walk into a place it will immediately become Un-hip.

Kara ask your question on Lonely Planet. Click on Thorntree. The board is geared toward a younger traveler. Some of the Fodors posters are a bunch of wannabes who will never be.

Topping for Kara:

Try Alcazar on Rue Mazarin in the 6th. It's a Terence Conran restaurant that should be able to acomodate your large party.

Kara,
According to the "perfect Paris" article in the Feb. Conde Nast Traveler, the hot and hip bar of the moment is Nirvana on ultra swank Av. Matignon. Article also lists the current hip dance clubs, like Mathis Bar on rue de Ponthieu in the 8th.

It is already nearly impossible for a group of two or three "unknown" people to get into the Mathis, so twenty (likely to be loud) Americans at one go, I wouldn't risk it...
