Check out: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
Enter your cities, dates, and preferred times.
Basically you can leave any hour at 23 minutes after the hour, change in Antwerp and arrive 3 hours, 35 minutes after departure. There are also changes in Brussels.

I took the train from Amsterdam to Bruges about 2 years ago. I remember the train stopped in Antwerp and we switched trains to Bruges. (I don't think we stopped in Brussels but I could be wrong...) It took about 3.5 hours. We didn't buy tickets until we got to Amsterdam. We purchased our tickets and got questions answered about 2 days before we were ready to leave. The office at the train station was helpful although the line was very long. We took a number, went out for lunch, and came back just as they were calling our number! Worked for us.

Take the hourly intercity train to Antwerpen then change for Brugge. In the Netherlands and Belgium, seats cannot be reserved on intercity trains, so there is no need to book tickets in advance. You could get a Thalys train to Brussels and change there, but seats have to be reserved in advance and it will be more expensive.

Yes, it is the Thalys that changes in Brussels. We did that because it was a little better time wise and we had Benelux passes which included that.

Can someone tell me how much this train costs? Is it the same price as going to Brussels from Amsterdam?
