I recommend watching one of our favorite Italian films, Cinema Paradiso, before visiting Cefalu. You will recognize places you will visit there. We once based in Trapani, not a lot of English speakers or tourists there, but very friendly people and a nice cable car to beautiful Erice. While we enjoyed the temples at Agrigento, Selinunte, and Segesta, the countryside around each was all a bit different. Monreale was a highlight of a day trip from Palermo but spend some time there as well (Cathedral, catacombs and the best street market in Italy). Malta is interesting and worth your time, but Sicily is much larger with so much more to see and do.

Whitehall, the music from Cinema Paradiso is some of my all time favorite music, yes, I must find a way to watch it!
So.......since we are not going to Malta, I am starting a new thread "Tenative Itinerary N/NW/Central Sicily"
Please more good advice!
