Need help with open jaw tix- Spain/Italy

We are planning our return to Italy, in May '06. However this time we plan on adding Spain. We are in the early stages of planning.

So I am searching today(airtravelcenter.com) and I find an open jaw ticket from Houston, arriving in Spain and leaving out of Naples, for way under $800. So I need advice, would you purchase now (7 months away), or would you wait? Is this a deal?

Sorry for asking this- but I'm kinda' new at this. How do I make sure I'm doing this open jaw thing right? It's just that the flight is cheap and I want to make sure I'm doing it right. Thanks in advance!

Hello BELLEO, well I am certainly not the Queen of finding the least expensive flights so perhaps other will find fault with my suggestions but personally if I wanted to fly from Houston into Spain and return from Naples back to Houston I would grab this ticket. Saying that however I do want to mention that I have never heard of airtravelcenter.com. I have no idea who they are, what airlines they will have you flying on etc. It is just the cost of the ticket that sounds good to me. The balance (the website, the airlines) I could not comment on. But hopefully someone else here on Fodors can better advise you. I would suggest that you post which airline you would be flying with.

For May (high season) that sounds like a good price - but agree - have never heard of airtravelcenter.com. Can;t you just get the same ticket from the airline?

Thanks for the quick replies! The website is also known as onetrav. Here it is:
http://airtravelcenter.com/onetrav.htm

The airline is British airways. I went straight to british airways site, but I wasn't able to book an open jaw ticket. Or I dont know how to? I really think it's a good deal and will go ahead and book.

I was curious about why it's be difficult to book open jaws at britishairways.com, so I went to the site and couldn't figure out how to do it either.

There's an option for stopovers, or to return TO a different airport, but not one to return FROM a different airport. Either very strange (that they don't allow open-jaw bookings) or a poorly designed website.

I would get on the phone and call British Air. Give them the exact itinerary you have already found. See what price they quote you.

This is what I have done to book open jaws flying BA in the past.

Also, the price that you think you are getting should include taxes and gate fees. I sometimes see some some teaser deals that do not include these items. (can be like $120 - $200).

That's a good point Double. I would make sure it includes those.

If it's all inclusive I think it's a good price.

Thanks again. Yes, it actually includes everything. No hidden deals or anything. The total comes out to way under $750 per person. I will call BA to see if I can get the same deal through them.

I also checked whichbudget.com, and there are some cheap flights between Italy and Spain. Thanks for all your help!

Just a word about the "cheap flights" between Italy and Spain. We took one last May and it was fine, but when my daughter took one, it would have cost her an extra 180 Euros for her extra luggage if she wasn't good at crying and fairly fluent in Italian. So, if you're thinking of doing this, keep in mind that there is a baggage allowance and if you go over, it may cost you ALOT.

As for the price, it sounds good to me, though you might be able to do better, but it may be worth it to you to just go for it and move on to the fun part of planning.
