Need help to reserve tickets to EIFFEL TOWER
I need help on the process to reserve tickets to ascend the Eiffel Tower. I realize that tickets only go on sale 90 days prior to the date requested at 8:30am on that date and that they sell out FAST!
So --last night I stayed up until 1:30am USA time to have the first opportunity. (Paris is 7 hours ahead of central time). I attempted without success until 2:45am , gave up and went to bed. All time slots are gone for May 8 so I now must try for Friday, May 9.
Here is what I did:
1) clicked - ascend to summit - selected May 8 and the number of tickets
2) the available times came up and I clicked 10:30 (not my first choice which was already
taken 5 minutes after opening!)
3)Here is where the problem arose.
I needed to enter a cell phone number (mandatory). Does anyone know the
PROPER FORMAT OF A USA CELL NUMBER?
I entered SEVERAL DIFFERENT METHODS - NONE WORKED.
They said I need to establish an account, chose a password etc...
I did all this chose USA as the country, gave e-mail etc. -NO RESULTS!
A message in red appeared: The field "mobile phone" is not well formatted.
WHAT IS THE PROPER FORMAT FOR A CELL PHONE NUMBER IN USA?
I put in: +1 (xxx) xxx xxxx THIS DID NOT WORK.
Many many thanks to anyone who can answer promptly. I will attempt again at 1:30am when tickets go on sale for May 9.

Thank you all. Should I leave out spaces? The phone #s in France all have lots of spaces.
don't know why they have to make it so hard!
Will try all the suggestions. think I will try the # of the apartment rental contact first since
it is a France #.
Have my fingers crossed for tonight!

Hi nannnibray
When I purchased my tickets a week or so ago I did the following.
I put in my mobile number as I use it in my country -10 digits beginning with 0 - NO country/state codes etc.
I then picked the country I was from and chose a password.(make sure it is long enough).
This was accepted and I can now log back in and print tickets and check details.
Good luck for next time

You may need to phone your credit card issuer in advance and have the fraud protection removed so the internet transaction will not be automatically blocked.
For the phone number, just use 10 digits, no characters or spaces, and choose the country. It's used only to identify your account. It does not even have to be a mobile number (I used my land line because I know that number without looking it up). Be sure to note your account choices, as you'll need them to log in to print your tickets.
Look again and see if tickets are available for the second level. There's no need to go any higher than that, but, once there, you can purchase a supplemental ticket to the top if you wish.

I was wondering how having a chip in a card could make any difference for online purchases, I don't really understand how that could possibly matter since you are just typing in numbers. And that really wouldn't have anything to do with your phone number.
By the way, for those with chip cards -- these are supposed to be much greater for CC fraud, of course, versus the US style strip. But I was wondering how these can prevent online CC fraud, which in my case (which may not be normal) is the main way my credit cards have been mis-used? YOu can buy a lot of stuff online, after all.

A lot of websites here in the UK have verified by visa...so to get the transaction to go through you need to enter a password. The same for MasterCard but I forget what theirs is called. It would be great if all sites used this!

SUCCESS!!!
Thanks to Travelnut and djk books (any some others)! Their method worked (just the 10 digit number)
djk --good advice to only go to the second level. I agree with you, but, we are going to
the summit nevertheless. (first timers and I am treating my daughters and grand daughter
so I don't want them to be disappointed). Like much travel - you do it just to say you did!
Merci!

Well done nannibray! I am only going to the 2nd floor as my husband isn't happy with heights and this will be a progress for him from 1st to 2nd floor. You won't be disappointed
Christina-I don't believe the chip cards play a part in online cc purchase fraud- more with a tap and go process that speeds up the transaction process in store.
Banks have different processes to monitor ,follow and assess and what might look to be unauthorised transactions on a cc account and advise the owner.
Using secured sites ,paypal and monitoring your purchases online are some ways to help avoid fraud. I buy plenty online as well.
