Bob,

Again, many thnaks.

I have figured out why I was not getting the information in English. I was logging from the main screen. Pressing the English button right above the log in doesn't help either, because it sends you to the ticket booking screen.

On the other hand, if I first click on International Visitors, and then log in on the next screen, everything continues to be in English, and everything is a cinch.

All's weel that ends well. But I have spent 2-3 hours over this, and your and Ira and others have been gracious enough with your time.

Any suggestions for my Prague-Vieena-Budapest-Ljubljana-Venice-lorence segments?

I spent some time at the trenitalia.it this morning. Can't figure out all the discount schemes. I may be missing out on some advance purchase discounts.

Cheers!

Huntley

How was my screen in English.
Xxxx if I know how I got it, where Xxxx = your naughty word of choice.

Fortunately I can read German, almost.

Let me see if I can reconstruct it.

Assume a starting point of www.bahn.de

That page will be in German.

Along the top, look for Internat. Guests.

Click on that heading.

Mine automatically flips to English.
I must have a cookie on the system for it to do that.

If it does not flip to English, look for the list of languages on the left side.
English should be a choice.

I am not really sure what to do if you don't get English.

My name and account number fill in automatically because I use Firefox and told it to remember my stuff.

That makes it very easy.

At any rate, I got there that way.

Now whether or not you will have the same results I don't know.

I must admit that my bookings was harder than all H... to find even though I knew what I was looking for.

At any rate, you got your ticket.
I suggest you do what I did. Print a second one. Carry it separately.

I knew those German lessons would pay off someday!! Glad I knew the language enough to help.

Makes my day!!!

I have tried to book at ticket from Amsterdam to Venice via Munich on several occations. No luck. Tonight I tried again and it walked me through the whole process except that it wouldnt give me a price. It would take my card number and it said I would receive the tickets in 2 to 3 days but even till just at the end it wouldnt give me the price. So I didnt proceed to the final booking page.

Who would buy a ticket without knowing the price?

I don't think you understand what Huntley and I did. We knew the price.

You don't get international prices very easily on those web sites.

From the German site, you can get prices to Austria and Switzerland Italy.
Some of the prices for Prague are given.
Even Paris.

But, if a Thalys train and an IC or ICE train are involved, the fare info is often not available.

If I dont know the price, how can I book the ticket? Do people go ahead and book and find out the price afterwards?
