Need help getting to Knock Shrine

Hello,
I am having the hardest time calculating the distance, travel time, etc. to the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock from other locations in Ireland.
Does anyone know how far Knock is from Galway and/or Shannon airport?
I was told that it is possible to hire a cab from Galway to Knock for about $100 each way but it also seems that busses run from Shannon airport to Knock.
If anyone can offer any advice I would appreciate it!
Thanks so much,
~Toni

I apologize...I think I posted this in the wrong forum.
I did enter 'Ireland' at the top of the page...pardon my mistake.

Oh my goodness...now my post is here in the 'Ireland' section. I'm sure I saw it in 'Italy'...really, I'm not a total idiot (just partially!).

There is no Ireland section as such - this is the Europe Forum which covers all the relevant countries.
Highlighting Ireland at the top of the page is just a tool for making it easier for people searching for information on Ireland to find what they want.

Knock is 55 miles from Galway - it should take just over an hour and a quarter by car.
Shannon to Knock is about 100 miles and takes almost two and a half hours.

You can get buses to Knock from the main bus station in Galway. There's about 3 services a day and it takes about an hour and a half. For timetables, etc, see www.buseireann.ie

I think you have to go to Galway for BusEireann service to Knock Shrine. There's frequent bus service to Galway from Shannon airport (you may have to change in Ennis). Then, as cailin writes, there's BusEireann service to Knock Shrine from Galway.

BusEireann also serves Knock Shrine two times daily on its Ballina - Galway route. I think there may also be one from Sligo.

I've ridden BusEireann Ballina-Galway that stopped in Knock. It seems like it took more than 1.5 hours to Galway from Knock.

Thanks, Prue. Still trying to get the hang of the boards!
Thank you Cailin and Nedsireland for the information; I'm wondering about hiring a cab to get there, but I imagine it will be very expensive compared to the bus...I've emailed one company so far that seems to be very familiar with getting people to the Shrine.
Any other thoughts would be most appreciated!
Thank you again,
~Toni

Just a guess, I think BusEireann would probably cost 15-20 Euros Shannon-Knock Shrine.

It's not a bad ride. I usually stop for lunch at Garvey's in Galway. It's Garver's Hotel and it's just across from Galway Bus/Train station. The seafood chowder (mostly mussels) is pretty good. You can buy an Eircom Phone Card at the Centra store next door and call ahead to your B&B. There are about 4-Eircom Phones on the corner of the Park across from Garvey's. It's supposed to be called John F. Kennedy Square but most people still refer to it as Eyre Square.

There's no Bus Station per se in Knock. The bus stops along the road. If you can call them, people from your B&B will probably come to 'collect' you. That's one reason you should have a Phone Card.
