Need advice for Provonce

I am traveling to Paris - first time in April. We are looking for short trips thereafter then to continue our stay in London. Was wondering if anyone can tell me what there is to do in Provonce and how far away it is from Paris. Is one day enough to spend there or should we stay longer?

I think it is too far for a daytrip. You might want to visit Giverny, which is an easily do-able day trip and the gardens should be delightful in April.

Provence is a long way from Paris, as you'll see if you check a map, though with the TGV you can get there in 3 hours. It's way too far for a daytrip, though. As for what there is do to in Provence, well, suffice it to say that thousands of books have been written on the topic.
There are plenty of good daytrips you can do from Paris, though: Versailles, Fontainebleau, Vaux-le-Vicomte, Chantilly, Senlis, Auvers-sur-Oise, even the Loire valley.

Don't you think maybe he was asking about day trips to Provins, not Provence? I don't think anyone would seriously ask about a
"short trip" or a one-day stay in Provence!

oh, yeah, there have been serious posts on here from folks asking about day trips to Provence because they've heard of it and don't check maps or distances. I suspect from the phonetic spelling that is where dory was inquiring about, espec. since asking if they should stay longer. Provins isn't pronounced similar to that spelling and I don't think most people would want to stay there many days.

Provence is too far for a day trip, dory, but if you want to stay longer (and it is a lovely area), there are a couple of superb websites on the area that will tell you all about it:

www.avignon-et-provence.com
