Navigo Decouverte Photos

My question is for those of you living in the USA who brought photos with you.....were they passport photos, photos from one of those mall machines, selfies??? Does it matter if they are b&w or coloured? Since the size requirement is so small, I'm having a problem finding a suitable photo.

Thank you

I made Xerox copy of my passport photo and then cut it down to be just my exact face. Woked fine. I did bring tiny scissors with me to metro station to be sure I cut it correctly. I have read that some stations have scissors. Black and white was fine.

I took a passport photo, I believe, but you can use a photo from one of those photobooths. I did NOT take a selfie, but if you must to save money, you'd have to make sure it was a good closeup of your head but not too big. Basically the same as a passport photo. I think passport photos are then a tad too big for the spot, so you have to trim them a hair with scissors to fit.

The website tells you the requirements. I think they do have to be in color, although they didn't used to have to many years ago (old Carte Orange). This is not that difficult, go to a photobooth and pay $5 or so. I got my recent passport photos as RiteAid, they were only about $10, they have coupons online. So does CVS. How can you be having so much trouble, don't you have a passport? Do you have extras left over from that process?

These are the instructions on the website:
< apposer le rabat autocollant qui protège la photo.>>

Now that doesn't actually say they have to be in color, but says they cannot be scanned or photocopies. Just go to CVS or Riteaid and get passport photos, and take some small scissors with you or something to trim, if you are having problems.

BTW, I just saw Debit says she used a photocopy. IN theory, that is not allowed and you could get fined, I suppose, although in most cases, the transit police will never see it. I suppose if the photocopy were good enough maybe you couldn't tell once the plastic is over it.

My ND card are from 2011, I Reloaded it and used it in 2012; will do the same in December. No one has ever asked to see it in dozens and dozens of rides/uses.

I do see that it indicates no photocopy -
Translation of the above. "To be valid, the owner must register their name, paste his photo (Front, bareheaded, neutral background, not used, not scanned, not photocopied) and affix the sticker on the flap Authorized Card Transport."

Thanks,DebitNM and Christina. I'll go to one of the mall machines or Rite-Aid for my photo. I do have a passport - Canadian, with no extra photos. And "selfie" was a joke. Seems like the whole world takes selfies, except moi!

There are a few métro stations without photo booths but most have them. Photos cost 5€, attach them to the ND card and print your name on the place provided. If you need help cutting photos or assembling the Navigo card, ask at the Information window, they keep scissors to size photos and will help you with questions.

While riding the métro, I am checked for valid ticking at least once a month. Do not assume that checks are not performed regularly both at exit points as well as within the connecting corridors of the métro network.

Thanks, Sarastro, for that valuable information. If I don't get a photo taken before I leave, at least I know I can have one taken at a metro station.

The rule about not scanning or photocopying is not set in stone. They just want to be sure that people do not try to use a bad copy.
