I appreciate the encouragement, kja. It has been my experience as well, that other passengers will offer to assist. I have found the steep stairs onto the train to be more problematic than the stairs between platforms. I guess I will just not hesitate to ask for help if needed.
So with all the great help given here, I have at last booked all my hotels & transportation. Now the actual fun begins, of sorting out a rough plan for what to see & do with my 2 days in Napoli and 4 days in Sorrento!!

About those stairs to the train. They are not only relatively steep, but also narrow. Not an issue until my trip in 2017 when I was doing a lot of train travel. I had a 22 inch spinner and a tote that I could put over my shoulder. In hindsight i would have taken the extra seconds to separately get each piece of luggage to the top of the stairs to minimize the torque on my back. There was always someone happy to help with getting things into overhead racks once onboard.
