No one can decide for you. All I'll say is I was on the second Virgin flight out of SFO after they resumed flying in Sept '01 and it was one of the best flights/trips ever.
By Sept 13 things will probably be more organized - but it will still be a loooooong flight w/o some "comfort items". The flight home is the one that would be hardest for me w/ basically no carry on at all - but I still couldn't see myself cancelling.

What is so silly is that the people who were the threat have been caught and more security is in place.
If they hadn't been caught, flying on Sept 13th might have resulted in a lot of deaths.
Did you not know there were terrorists trying to blow up planes until yesterday?
The truth is, somebody somewhere is right now trying to figure out how to blow up planes or airports or large buildings or more trains.

It depends, Vamps-are you going to the UK? If so, I'd want to seriously rethink that, in light of the ongoing criminal investigation, which is huge, and centered in and around London-This has already meant, and will continue to mean, blocked off streets, false alarms, just like what happened last year during the London bombings-people who went over there at that time reported being very jumpy-it wasn't fun to think you could be a target, and that there were perpetrators still on the loose in the area. I don't know about you, but that sort of atmosphere CAN'T be conducive to a carefree, happy vacation-the threat situation there is too uncertain at this time, and we don't know what the situation will be like a month from now-if you want to wait and see, you'll be allowed some leeway from the airlines if you want to cancel the flight at a later date.
But as to any other European destination-I wouldn't hesitate to go now at all.

I'm curious...are you asking this forum because somebody here has some priviledged information that would convince you one way or another? have you checked with the US Dept of State? Homeland Security? Airline? What do they say?

We're going to Berlin and Amsterdam through London at the beginning of September and we're not cancelling. Why not wait a week or two and see how things evolve before deciding. Everything is still very fresh and makes it easy to make a hasty decision.
