my replies are getting lost! why?

I keep composing beautiful replies, push the 'post my message' button, and VOILA! Nothing! They disappear into cyberspace! Has anyone else had this problem? It doesn't happen with every reply, but is getting frustrating nonehteless.

Maybe you just don't see your replies right away? I've noticed that today.

Try to refresh after you hit "post".

Oh, and are you sure you hit "post" not "preview"?

Hi, kwren!

I've had the same problem--it happens when my log-in (under Profile) hasn't "taken" for some reason, and once when *blushing sheepishly* I realized too late I hadn't actually logged in.

Has the thread disappeared. This happened to me less than an hour ago. A Rick Steves: friend or foe, I was posting a reply, the thread wasn't visible to the left as I copmosed, weird I thought, so I opened a new browser window and the thread can't be found.

A possible cause of now you see it now it is gone.

Kwren, I've had that happen in the past, though not recently. Uneducated guess is that sometimes Fodors has problems with its servers. When they've had problems in the past, I try to remember to copy and paste my replies into Word before posting my reply, so all is not lost if Fodors chokes.

Hello kwren, I agree with Faina. After hitting "Post My Reply" do hit the refresh on your screen if your post doesn't show up. I had this problem for awhile but for some reason I haven't for a couple of months. I agree, it sure is frustrating. Best wishes.

"Select" and "copy" (Control C) before you hit "Post" - - then you haven't lost if it doesn't "take".

Best wishes,

Rex

Quite a few threads disappeared today; Fodor's editors were working overtime on the civility issue. If you posted about tipping or on any post by a newcomer named Carravaggio (sic? or was it something similar?) your posts probably disappeared along with the threads. That has happened more often lately, as the editors seem quicker to delete inappropriate messages and threads.

kwsl,

Why Caravaggista ? I read a few of those posts and there wasn't anything to delete.

Did I miss something?

You're right, those threads actually seemed pretty tame, considering the dogfights that sometimes ensue on Fodor's. But there was that indefinable nasty "tone" developing on two of them that I guess the editors decided to squelch. They (Fodor's) see to be doing less selective editing of individual posts and more deleting of entire threads.

Guess they are trying to enforce the civility rule. Odd though, that they don't usually delete Thingorjous' mean-girl posts, isn't it?

I've had the same problem ,kwren, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it.

Let's see if this works today. In planning for success...

\/

I don't seem to have any trouble posting a new thread, so 'copy' before posting a reply it is! Thanks to all
