I was actually surprised to see the number of swimming pools in Lisbon hotels. http://www.trivago.com/?iSemThemeId=...&iPathId=50993
Not sure how many of them are appropriate for lap swimming, however.
Good luck with this. Laurie

We fly to Lisbon and arrive on the first for our 1 month stay in September. Wife and I read this, printed it out and made notes from all. We will do this the first week there and then post our thoughts. Thanks to all who contributed and a special thanks to Ireynold1 for posting it in the first place.

We had printed this out and started on Wednesday early in the day and thoroughly enjoyed following your suggestions. We did get confused a few times but that was half the fun. The look out points were spectacular. We made it as far as the Rossio train station and then stopped for a quick bite and a beer. Well, we started a conversation with another couple who had just arrived and after several rounds we realized that we will finish the walk another day. The couple did take our printed copy so they could also share it with their friends. We Thank You for posting this very helpful info

About the swimming pools:
if, according to that site, there are at least 39 hotels in Lisbon with swimming pools;
if we count the main pools of the city, municipals (of parishes and of sports complexes), sports clubs, colleges, schools, health clubs, there are more than 70 swimming pools in Lisbon (including a few in the suburbs).
Understand that most of them are short courses. As far as i know, there are two olympic pools (there used to be 3, but one was closed recently because the club was drowning in debts...), though one is not actually located in Lisbon but nearby, in Jamor's National Sports Center (the best there is).
By the way, if it's not too late, i think the best pool closer to downtown is the one of the Swimming National Club (Clube Nacional de Natação), located at Rua de São Bento, 209.

Hello Laurie and Lisbon lovers., my husband and I will be taking a "heritage" tour of the Azores this may! We will fly into Lisbon from Sao Miguel on Monday may 23 getting in late morning and leaving late morning on the 24 th! This walking tour sounds fantastic ! We originally were going to drive up to Fatima, spend the night there and drive back in the morning! After reading this link... I am rethinking how we should spend our very short time in Lisbon! The last update was 2013.... Any current changes or sights not to be missed? I would love an updated version of this wonderful tour if you have one! Thank you!
