Must see from Chianti to Rome

Hi All -
Can someone please recommend that ONE PERFECT STOP for one night only (in May) when we drive back to Rome from the Chianti town of Castellina.

Here's our Tuscany/Rome scenario so far:
- leave JFK to Rome on 5/21
- spend 5/22 & 5/23 in Rome Intercontinental
- 5/24 drive from Rome to Castellina Chianti
- 5/24 - 5/31 Castellina our central base to visit Pisa, San Gimignano, Siena, Florence.
- 5/31 Drive back to Rome for our flight back to NY BUT we can break our drive up with an overnight stay somewhere in Umbria.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that on 6/1 we need enough time to drive back to Rome during the early part of the day and catch our flight back to NY around early afternoon (12 PM and on).

There are so many amazing places to hit but we can only do one more stop after Chianti.
Your honest opinion on that one special place and why ....would be greatly appreciated. Did I mention we LOVE GREAT FOOD too!!!! We travel for food.. Any add'l
comments/recommendations are totally welcome.

Thank you for taking the time.
For the best meal we had in all of Chianti..check the Osteria Badia en Passignano. This is a very small hamlet near the Antinori vineyard estate and relatively close to Castellina...ah Catellina..my wedding ring came from an antique shop there.

Another vote here for Orvieto! A very special town and very delightful in the evening. Food and wine are fabulous! Be sure to take the underground tour. Very interesting!
